Step Up To Gold Programme 2018/2019

British Showjumping logo

The Step up to Gold programme is now open and accepting applications for 2018/2019. The programme will once again have two aims; it will continue to support riders aiming to establish themselves at the 1.40m level but due to changes in funding eligibility, the programme will also support riders that are aiming to be selected for World Class Performance Pathway Programme.

Riders who are aged 16-30 that are competing at 1.40m-1.50m will also be considered to help establish the results needed to meet criteria to apply for the World Class Performance Pathway Programme.

In order to be considered for the Step up to Gold Programme, you will first need to send in an application form and then the successful riders will be invited along to one of the four training and selection days held in October. From these sessions 8 riders will be selected to join the final year long programme. Please note that there will be a one-off fee of £40 to attend the initial training and selection day after which the programme will be majority funded by Sport England.

Eligibility Criteria

Please note that all changes to last year’s criteria are in bold.

If you have applied for the World Class Performance Pathway Programme, you can still apply for Step up to Gold and if you are then successful for the World Class Performance Pathway Programme, you would transition onto that programme straight away for this cohort.

Aged 16-30
Not to be established at 1.50m+
A minimum performance of results at 1.30m
Not to be currently involved in any other government funded training programme e.g. DISE
Not to have jumped on any Senior British teams
Reside in England
Current British Showjumping member
All sport funding is limited, selected riders are very fortunate to be given it, therefore all riders must fully commit to the programme and endeavour to be present at all training and show dates otherwise they are denying this chance for someone else.
