Helen Tredwell lands the sixth leg of the British Showjumping International Stairway Series 2019 at the Royal Norfolk Show on 28th June.
Twenty competitors contested the 12 fence course designed by Kelvin Bywater, with eight combinations reaching the jump-off. Finmere based Helen Tredwell produced two of the quickest rounds of the class onboard Colin Garratt’s 13 year-old British-bred Sebastian VII (sire Unbelievable Darco) to win with a clear round in 51.85 seconds.
Ultra-consistent Helen also took fourth place on her own and her father Alan Tredwell’s 14 year-old homebred mare Larksong (sire Vangelis S) in a time of 51.31 seconds as the fastest of the four-faulters.
Second place went to Adrian Speight and 13 year-old Millfield Baloney, another British-bred horse owned by Judith Whitham, with a double clear in 52.39 seconds. The third double clear went to Paul Bevan riding his own 11 year-old Dutch-bred Deangelo II, clear in 54.21 seconds. Oliver Fletcher took fifth with Lady Pauline Kirkham and Lady Pauline Harris’ Hello Disckoboy DN, who were recently selected for the Team NAF Junior European Championship Squad, crossing the line with four-faults in 53.36 seconds.
The BS International Stairway takes place across a number of County Shows where winning combinations gain League Points that count towards the final at the British Showjumping National Championships Final at Stoneleigh Park in Augut. The series culminates with a high profile championship with three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards up for grabs, being where the sports National Champion is crowned.
